WHAT IS
|
The Guardian Run is the race for all members of the Boy's & Girl's Guardian Running Clubs at each of the Elementary Schools in the Gretna School District. The Running Clubs meet in the weeks leading up to the race. (Note that this event is different than the PTO fundraising runs sponsored individually at each school.)

The race starts on the west side of the high school, in the south driveway by Gretna United Methodist Church, and finishes in the GHS Stadium. |
Parking |
Parking is available at the high school, use the north entrance off Hackberry Dr or the north west entrance by the front doors. The south driveway on the west side (off Westplains) will be closed before the race begins.

Runner
|
Streets will be closed on race day. A Sarpy County Sheriff's deputy cruiser will lead the runners on the course. Volunteers will be stationed along the course to hold traffic and direct runners. Bicycle support and other adults will be running with the kids on the course.
(Note: An adult or older sibling can run along with a Running Club Member at no charge. No pre-registration required.) |
Results |
Runners will receive a race number (bib) to wear during the race and for a keepsake. While we will have a running clock on the stadium scoreboard we do not record times or places. We enourage runners of all abilities to do THEIR best!

volunteer |
A safe, successful race takes a lot of volunteers. Would you, your or family or friends consider helping out on race day? Visit our Volunteer Page for more information.
|
Cheering! |
Be sure to line the starting chute and 204th street as the runners begin the race! As soon as the runners are off, head east to the GHS stadium to cheer your runner on at the finish line on the track in front of the west (home) stadium. You may meet them after the race on the field, on the track, or in the stands. For runner safety and traffic flow, do NOT enter the roped off finish area.

what if....
|
In the event of inclement weather, the school administration has the final say as to whether we run or not. To reduce the chances of a cancelation based on a questionable forecast, the decision to run the race will be made AT race time. We will still gather together at Gretna High School, and if conditions at race time are not favorable for the race, we will gather everyone in the High School gym for refreshments, a quick pep talk, then a victory lap and medal presentation for each school. This will ensure that the season ends on the best note possible.
